Beetles in the diet of the beech marten Martes foina and the pine marten Martes martes

Abstrakt
This paper presents the results of examination of 225 samples of scats of beech and pine martens concentrating on the species composition of beetles eaten by martens. On the basis of this data, showing a predominance of ground beetles, it is hypothesised that martens look for food on tree trunks and boughs, in tree hollows, under patches of loosened bark and in litter.
