Notes on some species described in the genus Hister L. (Coleoptera: Histeridae)

The taxonomical and systematic status of some Hister-species is discussed. New genera are established: Ghanister for Hister gorilla and H. ertli and Barbarus for Hister barbarus. Hister angustimargo has been transferred to the genus Exorhabdus. Hister jeanneli is synonimized with H. alienigena and lecto- and paralectotypes for some species are designated. Hister punctipygus is a distinct species, newly recorded from Kenya.
