Abstract
A list of 256 carabid species (Carabidae) recorded from the Lodz Upland (Central Poland) has been compiled using earlier publications and authors' own data. Fifty-one species are new for this area. The most interesting species occurring in this region are: 1) species rare and very rare in Poland: Carabus nitens, C. clatratus, Trechus austriacus, Trechoblemus micros, Patrobus septentrionis, Lebia chlorocephala, Demetrias imperialis, Amara majuscula, A. pallens, 2) mountain species: Carabus linnaei, Abax carinatus, Pterostichus metallicus, Amara helleri. The short history of faunistic reseaches on Carabidae of the area of Lodz Upland is also given.
